I went to Starbucks for coffee yesterday and I went to Caribou for coffee this morning. Both have their holiday cups out in force, which is just wrong. It’s not even Thanksgiving yet and I am not ok with this premature holiday celebration. Don’t get me wrong. I love the Christmas season. I love everything about it. But I’m not ready for it yet. Can’t we enjoy Thanksgiving first?
In any case, I have to say I hate the Starbucks holiday cups. Way, way too red. So Caribou, with cups in several pleasantly muted colors, wins on cups. Also in Caribou’s favor: at least in Chicago, they have pastries from Deerfield’s bakery which are very, very yummy.
Holiday Season: Advantage Caribou (or The Bou, as Kat calls it. It should be noted that the cups say “Bou Wonderland” on them, which must be a shout-out to her.)

Caribou wins by a value landslide as well:
Espresso content:
Small (or the pretentious and misleading ‘large’ at Starbucks) = 1 shot at both
Medium – 2 shots at both
Large – 2 shots at Starbucks, 3 shots at Caribou.
At Starbucks, you pay extra for….milk.
Hate Starbucks.
^ you mean “Tall”
I think this is an amazing post about competition for a coffee.
I think your competition will rock.
I like your post.
Thanks for your time post your blog.
Hands down Starbucks for taste.
I’ve only had Caribou once. Starbucks…I’ve lost count!
Are you comparing the two companies by their… paper cups?
The only important thing here is that you like it
I agree, the most convenient for Austin is to buy a coffee bar
